Patches

What patch size should I order?
Shoulder Patches: Flight suit shoulder patches are typically 3" in diameter but some people wear sizes up to 3.5". NWU rectangle patches are 2.5 x 4" Flags are 2 x 3 ⅜"
Chest / Crest / Squadron Patches: These vary in height from 3.5" to 4.25". Some have banners above and below or just below, it just depends on what you prefer!

Embroidery
The traditional patch using a single color cloth/twill/canvas with a design stitched on top and a merrowed edge. Typically detail less than .15", such as small lettering, are unreadable. Depending on the complexity of the art we have to increase the total patch size to clearly see detail. We do 75% embroidery and 100% embroidery with no difference in cost. It just depends what the design needs.

PVC
PVC patches are made from Polyvinyl Chloride (synthetic polymer) dyed with different colors molded with heat and layered on top of each other. We typically produce 3D PVC patches which makes them raised in texture. They are a little more expensive to make due to the mold for each layer needed and their labor intensity. PVC patches are smooth, waterproof, and very durable. We insert a stitch channel about .15" around the outside to secure the hook/loop backing.

Sublimated
Essentially a picture printed onto embroidered patch. It allows for a lot more detail, like a portrait or small text but doesn't have the depth and traditional look that embroidery does. Sometimes smooth in texture as well but with merrowed edges with hook/loop backing.

Leather
We partnered with a tannery in the US to offer 100% full grain leather in 3 different colors: Bridle Tan, Buck Brown, and Black. All of our leather patches are engraved using a laser and hand stitched to a hook/loop backing. At this time we are not embossing leather or painting them. All of our leather patches are two-tone (engraved or not engraved) to achieve the design.

Leather Care Instructions
• Aging Naturally: Exposure to the elements will enhance the leather’s patina, giving it a distinct look over time.
• Water Exposure: If the patch gets wet, simply allow it to air dry naturally. Once dry, apply a natural leather conditioner to restore softness and luster.
• Scratches and Scuffs: Light marks can often be minimized by gently rubbing the affected area with clean hands or a soft cloth. The warmth and oils from your hands help blend the leather’s surface. With proper care, your leather patch will age beautifully and last for years to come!

A note on leather colors
Each cowhide has a unique patina with distinctive patterns, scars, and small imperfections – these variations make them remarkable! While we offer three leather color options, please note that each hide will have slight color and patina variations due to the natural characteristics of the leather.

Merrow vs Laser Cut
Both look great and are secured to the backing with stitches but it just depends on the design. We will automatically choose what works best for your custom design unless you specify which you'd like. We NEVER just glue the backing to the patch which results in the backing falling off after a few wears in the heat.
-
Merrow
The traditional embroidered patch has a merrowed edge. They are rounded and seal in the hook/loop backing. For larger designs that aren't strictly circular the corners will all be rounded.
-
Laset Cut
A laser cut edge is slightly rounded on the top but is cut by a laser and allows for sharp edges. Most laser cut patches have a stitch channel securing the hook/loop backing but are also glued to help from fraying. Laser cut patches will fray on the edges over time.
Shirts

Type
We only partner with manufacturers that produce with ethical standards. We offer a wide range of blends depending on your wants and needs.
Color
We have plenty of colors available including coyote brown and olive green for uniform standards.
Print Type
Our standard is screen printing using traditional dyes, typically plastisol. Screen printing can limit colors and finer details so if the design is very complex we offer DTF (direct to film). Essentially printing a design onto a film and heat transferring it to a shirt. It's not as heavy as vinyl but not as light as screen printing. We will automatically choose the print type based on design and quantity. If you have a preference please let us know!
Hats
-
Type
We mostly offer trucker style hats with mesh back and plastic clasp. If you'd like a different style like dad-hats or straight bill, let us know.
-
Embroidered
We offer embroidered hats with any logo on them, we can even do 3D puff at no additional cost.
-
Leather Patch
We offer US grown leather in three colors, stitched or glued onto the hats. Want a custom shape? No problem, we can do it!
-
PVC
A flatter non-3D PVC patch glued to the hat.
-
Embroidered Patch
A smaller embroidered patch with whatever logo you want, glued to the hat.
Stickers
We offer multiple different types of stickers; standard stickers, raised stickers, holographic, and decal. Each one has its unique style and limitations. Raised stickers have glossy raised areas with the rest of the sticker being matte. Holographic can be colored or black and white. Decals are great for water-bottles, helmets, and vehicles, they are extremely weather resistant and durable with a slightly raised texture.

Art Questions
-
What if I'm not artistic and can't provide a good drawing?
No art skills required! Just let us know what ideas you have and we'll bring it to life! Our team is skilled at asking the right questions and figuring out how to bring your vision out.
-
Do I have to pay for an art fee?
We only require a deposit for art which is deducted from your total invoice at the end. If you don't end up ordering, we keep the deposit, you keep the art we came up with.
-
Do you have a revision limit?
We limit revision to 5 after initial design. Any more after that will require another deposit. Our team is flexible and good at getting all corrections in early so it usually doesn't come to that.
Turnaround Time
-
How long does a custom project take?
It depends on a lot of factors but custom embroidery projects and hats take about 5 weeks to produce. Shirts take a little less at 4 weeks. Stickers about 3 weeks. If it's a DET package (custom name tags, crest patches, stickers, shirts, and hats) the whole project takes about 6-7 weeks to produce.
-
How long does it take to come up with a design?
If you provide us with a direction we will get an initial design / sketch within 5 business days. Every revision takes about 2 days unless it is a complete redraw (then another 5 days). Our artists work rather quickly but it just depends on how flushed-out is the idea. If you provide us with complete art, we can skip straight to the production phase.
